About STDC

Sindh Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) is established on 13th August 1991 under section 32 of the Companies Ordinance 1984. STDC is functional under the umbrella of Department of Tourism, Government of Sindh, Karachi. After 18th Amendment in the Constitution of Pakistan, 1973, the Government of Pakistan transferred the assets and offices to the provinces. Resultantly, STDC owns a good number of tourism offices and institutions devaluated and handed over. The matter of rest of assets and offices is pending.

STDC Functions

The functions of STDC are prescribed as the promotion and development of tourism industry by fostering business in and abroad the Sindh and Pakistan. The next performing action relate to the managing and provision of facilities, incentives, services, assistance, encouragement concession, recreation and amusement to tourists. In addition, STDC is empowered for establishing the once famous landmarks of Sindh for attraction of tourists and introducing the tourism industry.

STDC Vision

The vision of STDC is multi-dimensional in nature. First, Assurance of contribution to socio-economic and cultural development; Next, to coordinate with all the stakeholders for recognizing the importance of tourism, their role play in the development of tourism, and with the support of the international community. Then, promotion of tourism by creating an awareness of the diverse natural, religious, cultural and historical heritage through the mechanism of a dynamic, sustainable tourism strategy and a well-developed infrastructure.
